BarrieToday welcomes letters to the editor at [email protected] or via the website. Please include your full name, daytime phone number and address (for verification of authorship, not publication). BarrieToday has received numerous letters, including this one, in response to 'LETTER: City waste collection changes 'daunting' for seniors,' published Nov. 21.

Respectfully, I agree to disagree with the letter writer’s opinion regarding the new larger bins.

As a longtime Barrie resident who recently moved to Peterborough, I see it differently.

Peterborough now has the bigger green bins. They lock very well, keeping the raccoons and such away.

It has really worked well here, I’m happy to say.

Along with the new green bins, residents can now only use clear garbage bags for their weekly pick-up. The numbers show an over 75 per cent increase in recycled items at the curb rather than inside a green garbage bag.

I'm very happy with the new green bins and I’m sure the residents of Barrie will be just as happy.
