'My only concern will be how do we deal with extra volume that won't fit in the containers supplied? Presently, we just put another bag,' says letter writer

The future of solid waste collection in Barrie will include trucks with automated arms.

The following is in response to 'LETTER: City waste collection changes 'daunting' for seniors,' published Nov. 21.

The pending changes to waste collection seem to provide benefits for most.

Although I read a letter from a senior with concerns, hopefully these concerns are mostly about change rather than overwhelming challenges.

As I see it, the tote collection will keep my waste secure, cleaner and much easier to roll of my garage than the current round Home Depot bins I have been using up to now.

In my home we have a cat, as does the renter in the basement apartment. This material can be messy and heavy. I will feel much better for the collection staff that they won't be dealing directly with this nasty stuff anymore.

I also believe these totes are somewhat taller as well, so likely more space-efficient.

My only concern will be how do we deal with extra volume that won't fit in the containers supplied? Presently, we just put another bag.
