Red-Gloved Bandit may have struck for third time today

Third robbery happened Thursday afternoon at Bayfield Street Circle K convenience store

Barrie police say it appears the Red-Gloved Bandit may have struck for a third time today, marking three robberies in around eight hours.

At 3:27 p.m., Thursday, the culprit attended the Circle K convenience store at 151 Bayfield St., and robbed the clerk.

In the third robbery, the suspect was wearing a FILA hoodie.

Earlier on Thursday (March 19), at 6:50 a.m., city police responded to a robbery at the Circle K at 149 Dunlop St. E. Although no weapon was seen, the robber demanded cash and fled with an undisclosed amount of currency.

A short time later, at 10:17 a.m., police received a second call to the same location after the on-duty employee reported he had just been robbed by the same person who had robbed the store earlier.

Although the suspect had somewhat altered his appearance, he was still wearing the red gloves, but wore a black shirt with silver or white buttons and has his head covered with a black pullover.

Again, a small amount of currency was obtained.

The suspect who is described as male white, five-foot-seven, wearing a long-sleeved white and black T-shirt, black jeans or pants, had his face covered with a long-sleeve black shirt, wore a black bandana, red gloves and carried a green reusable shopping bag and fled on foot.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to call 705-725-7025, ext. 2549.
