Sixteen new COVID cases reported at eight Barrie schools today

There are 17 new COVID-19 cases being reported in schools across Simcoe County today and 16 of them are in Barrie. 

There are 64 total active COVID-19 cases being reported by local school boards at Simcoe County schools as of 4 p.m. on Nov. 11.

Terry Fox Elementary School in Barrie is reporting four new cases today, with three classrooms affected.

Eastview Secondary School in Barrie is also reporting four new cases today, adding to one case previously reported. No classrooms have been affected.

W.C. Little Elementary School in Barrie is reporting two new cases, and two affected classrooms.

Emma King Public School in Barrie is reporting one new case, and one affected classroom.

Ferndale Woods Elementary School in Barrie is reporting one new case. This adds to one case and affected classroom previously reported at the school.

Innisdale Secondary School in Barrie is reporting one new case.

Huronia Centennial Elementary School in Elmvale is reporting one case and one classroom affected today. This adds to one case and affected classroom previously reported at the school.

There are two new cases at St. Joan of Arc Catholic High School in Barrie, with six classrooms affected. This adds to two cases and three affected classrooms previously reported at the school.

There is also one new case at St. Peter’s Catholic Secondary School in Barrie, with three new classrooms affected. This adds to six cases and 10 affected classrooms previously reported at the school.

The Simcoe County District School Board has 22 confirmed active cases at 11 schools listed. They are:

  • Emma King Public School, one case, and one affected classroom
  • Ferndale Woods Elementary School, Barrie, two cases, one classroom affected.
  • Guthrie Public School in Oro-Medonte Township, one case and one classroom affected
  • Huronia Centennial Elementary School in Elmvale, two cases and two classrooms affected.
  • Nottawa Elementary School in Nottawa, one case and classroom affected
  • Terry Fox Elementary School, four cases, with three classrooms affected
  • Trillium Woods Elementary School in Barrie, one case, one classroom affected.
  • W.C. Little Elementary School, two cases, and two affected classrooms
  • Bear Creek Secondary School, Barrie, two cases
  • Eastview Secondary School in Barrie, five cases
  • Innisdale Secondary School, one case

Willow Landing Elementary School and Assikinack Public School, both in Barrie, are still in active outbreak according to the health unit. The school board is reporting all active cases at the both schools are now resolved.

According to the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board, there are currently 36 active cases spread across 11 schools:

  • Holy Cross Catholic School, Innisfil, seven cases, two affected classrooms. This school has been in outbreak since Oct. 22.
  • Sister Catherine Donnelly Catholic School in Barrie is reporting one case and one classroom affected
  • St. Angela Merici Catholic School, Bradford, two cases, three classrooms affected
  • St. Bernadette Catholic School, Barrie, two cases, two classrooms affected
  • St. Catherine of Siena Catholic School in Barrie, nine cases and four classroom affected. This school has been in outbreak since Nov. 1.
  • St. Marie of the Incarnation Catholic School in Bradford has one case, and one classroom affected
  • St. Mary's Catholic School, Collingwood, one case, one classroom affected
  • St. Monica's Catholic School in Barrie, one case and one classroom affected
  • St. Joan of Arc Catholic High School in Barrie has four cases, with nine classrooms affected
  • St. Joseph's Catholic High School, Barrie, two cases, three classrooms affected
  • St. Peter's Catholic Secondary School, Barrie, six cases, 10 classrooms affected. Outbreak declared on Nov. 8

The MonAvenir Catholic School Board has reported five students and one staff member who attend ÉÉC Samuel-de-Champlain in Orillia have tested positive for COVID-19 between Nov. 2 and 10. Two classrooms have been affected, and the health unit has declared an active outbreak at the school.

La Source Elementary School in Barrie, which is part of the Conseil scolaire Viamonde board reported one active case on Oct. 29.

A private school in Simcoe County, which has not been identified by the health unit, is also reporting an outbreak. There are two cases associated with that outbreak.
