Area residents are invited to the Innisfil Spring Market today (March 25) at the Stroud Innisfil Community Centre.

A successor to the Holiday Market, the spring event aims to highlight local businesses and what the town has to offer.

"We aim to create an inclusive space where the community can shop while supporting a variety of local entrepreneurs. Shop with intention with specially selected vendors from Innisfil and Simcoe County," said event organizer Nina La Costa.

She says there is a big demand from small businesses to have an inclusive space to share their goods and services with their community.

"I have always had a desire to help small business owners, like myself, that want the support of their neighbours, but are not in a position to have a retail space," La Costa explained. "The community can expect a fun day with music, a kids colouring area, diverse businesses to shop from and, of course, giveaways and swag bags that people have come to expect and love about my markets."

La Costa is on the cusp of her second anniversary of being a proud Innisfil resident and says she has no intention of going anywhere anytime soon.

"My family and I love our beautiful town," she said. "I love that Innisfil has such a diverse community of people who all have one thing in common regardless of background and nationality.

"The desire is to keep Innisfil the beautiful and thriving lakeside community that still believes in shopping small and helping out their fellow neighbour."
