Innisfil’s Biggest Garage Sale will take place this weekend on July 8 and 9, 2023.

Co-organizer of the third-annual event, Jacquie Raaphorst explained it was her own home purge in 2021 that got her thinking others in town could likely benefit from the same clean-out and sale.

There's still time for prospective sellers to join the approximate forty people who already appear on the Google map created especially for the event. Residents are expected to sell a variety of items, including household goods, kitchen items, some furniture, crystal stemware, books, music albums, children's toys, and clothing of all kinds.

Raaphorst told InnisfilToday that 15 vendors will be set up at 2089 St. Paul Road and some space is still available in the Moon Café & Craft Beer parking lot at 1041 Innisfil Beach Road. Space rental is $20, the proceeds of which will go to support Procyon Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Centre.

According to Raaphorst, it was co-organizer Ashley Newman who thought of making the event a fundraiser.

Procyon Wildlife is a Beeton-based wildlife rescue and rehabilitation centre that works to care for sick or injured animals with a goal of releasing them back into their natural habitats when they are healthy and able to fend for themselves.

"We have a goal of (raising) $2,500.00 this year for Procyon – a tough one, but we are determined to get there. Procyon does such amazing work with our wildlife, I wonder what we'd do without them!” Raaphorst said.

The co-organizers are working hard to attract buyers from Toronto, Guelph and north of Barrie to Orillia.

"So come one and come all to sell or buy,” encouraged Raaphorst.

The Google map will be updated as late as Friday at 9 p.m., as residents are invited to sign up as sellers (for one day or two) by contacting Raaphorst and Newman on Innisfil’s Biggest Garage Sale’s Facebook page. Though it doesn't cost anything to be listed as a seller on the event's Google map (which is available in the Facebook group), donations to the Procyon Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Centre are appreciated.
