Yesterday, Hydro One donated 45 double mattresses, bed sheets, pillows and towel sets to Habitat for Humanity Huronia, a charitable organization that builds and furnishes houses for families in need.

The materials donated by Hydro One were originally sourced to support Hydro One staff at the Ontario Grid Control Centre (OGCC) should they need on-site accommodations during the pandemic.

This donation will support Habitat for Humanity Huronia as the organization continues to provide home ownership to low-income families in the Barrie area.

“Hydro One is committed to energizing life and giving back to the communities where we work and live,” David Lebeter, chief operating officer, Hydro One. “We are proud to support Habitat for Humanity Huronia, a critical organization building safe communities.”

“Accessible and affordable housing is key to building safe communities,” said Lisa Voycey, director of ReStores, Habitat for Humanity Huronia. “With this donation from Hydro One, we will be able to keep building new homes and serve families in our community.”

This donation was made possible by Manitoulin Transport, a longtime and trusted transportation partner of Hydro One.

As an essential service, Hydro One is deeply committed to keeping customers energized throughout the pandemic. The OGCC is responsible for the operation of Hydro One’s electricity network and ensures the safe, reliable delivery of electricity to communities across the province.
