Do More Agriculture is kicking off the fifth year of its Community Fund.

The fund offers mental health education to rural communities across the country with a goal of empowering the communities with the tools to support themselves and others.

Applications are now open and available until Feb. 15, the organization said in a media release.

“FCC has been a proud founder of the Community Fund since its inception five years ago,” said Justine Hendricks, president and CEO at FCC.

Over the past five years, FCC has partnered with Do More Agriculture to improve access to mental health resources, training, and workshops. Hendricks said the organization hopes that has helped ease some of the mental health challenges faced by many rural Canadians.

FCC is firmly committed to providing ongoing support to mental health programming to meet the unique challenges faced by Canadian farm families, Hendricks said.

"We are thrilled about this year's Community Fund and would like to express our sincere gratitude to FCC,"  added Megz Reynolds, executive director of Do More Agriculture. "Their unwavering support of mental health in agriculture is instrumental in bringing awareness and connecting individuals to resources in rural communities,"

New programs include a virtual peer-to-peer grief support group, to provide a nurturing space for individuals coping with grief.

Additionally, the fund has added the SafeTALK workshop, designed to equip individuals with the knowledge and ability to extend effective help to someone considering suicide, connecting them to the necessary support.

The specialized AgCulture courses will continue to provide mental health professionals with an in-depth understanding of the specific challenges unique to the agricultural sector.
