The City of Barrie makes it easy for residents to complete home renovation projects, get permits, and request building inspections online.
If a permit is required, you can apply for building permits through APLI and submit all documents and payments online.
APLI stands for applications, permits, licences, and inspections. It’s the city’s online tool to create, pay, and check the status of permits, licences, and inspection requests online — 24 hours a day, seven days a week. APLI saves time, money, and paper for residents, businesses, and the municipality.
Whether you are a resident completing a home renovation, an artist looking for a busker permit, or a developer submitting a planning application, APLI offers an easy-to-use digital customer portal.
APLI has grown over the last five years; now citizens and businesses can:
- apply for a variety of permits (building, right-of-way, outdoor fires, busking) and planning applications
- request building inspections
- apply for community grants
- access helpful resources, such as forms, checklists, and tutorial videos
Last year, 8,671 applications were submitted through APLI.
