Barrie police ready to take the Polar Plunge

Barrie police will be taking the icy plunge on Saturday, March 7 along the city's lakeshore. 

Everyone is invited to take the plunge or come down to Centennial Beach to watch those who are brave enough to jump into the frigid waters. Registration will take place at noon, followed by the cool dip at 1 p.m.

The Polar Plunge raises money for Special Olympics Ontario (SOO) and all funds benefit the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Ontario.

Participants can either pay the registration fee or fundraise the minimum requirement to be able to take part in the plunge. Plungers can also earn prizes based on how much money they raise in donations.

Registration fee:
    •    Registered SOO athletes and volunteers - $25 (or raise $75 to waive the fee)
    •    Adult registration - $50 (or raise $100 to waive the fee)
    •    Students (ID required) - $25 (or raise $75 to waive the fee)
