Alyssa Tess, emerging singer-songwriter originally from the Georgian Bay area, is releasing her newest four-song EP, Sweet Goodbye, on Aug. 24, 2023.

This indie pop album navigates feelings of being head over heels in love, healing after heartbreak, and ultimately finding one’s way through it all, strung together by charming melodies, thoughtful lyrics, and dynamic and lush performances.

On Aug. 26, 2023, Alyssa will be double headlining with Toronto artist, Becky Leigh, to celebrate their upcoming music releases at The Dakota Tavern in Toronto.

Born and raised in Midland, Alyssa Tess started her music career as a street performer in her hometown. Later, when she moved to Midhurst, Alyssa expanded her performances to Barrie and beyond.

Now a graduate of the prestigious Humber College Music Program, Alyssa Tess has continued to perform as a solo, duo and full band act. Alyssa has been an avid performer throughout Simcoe County, Toronto and the GTA in various venues and settings for the past 10 years.

Alyssa released her debut EP Twenty/Twenty in 2017 and at a Mariposa Folk Foundation workshop, Alyssa played an original from the album to Canadian songwriter Serena Ryder, who likened Alyssa’s voice to an angel and said her guitar playing was “rad.” Alyssa has continued to receive positive feedback on her music, having released two singles in the last year, Daydream and Two People, with Two People receiving radio airplay from CBC radio.

Two People is one of the four tracks off Alyssa’s upcoming album.

On Aug. 26, 2023, The Dakota Tavern (249 Ossington Ave., Toronto) will be the venue for the Double EP Release Show with Alyssa Tess and Becky Leigh. As a co-headliner, Alyssa will be kicking off the evening sharing songs and stories from her upcoming EP, alongside four of the original musicians she worked with while recording the album.

Alyssa’s limited edition upcycled merch will be available as well.

“I am so very excited to share Sweet Goodbye with the world. It’s been three years in the making and the songs on this EP are really snapshots of very specific moments in my life. Some good, some not so good, but all very significant in shaping who I am as a person and an artist today. I hope this album gives listeners something to dance around their room to, or a song that they can listen to when they need a good cry, or simply just a moment of solace in hearing they may
not be alone in what they’re feeling.” - Alyssa Tess

Sweet Goodbye was recorded at Humber College in Toronto by the talents of her hardworking band, comprised of fellow and former Humber Students (Jaron Camp, Maggie Maloney, Brittany Iwanciwski, Alex Lii, Brandon Pellatt and David Ball).

Sweet Goodbye will be available on Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple Music, and all other music platforms on Aug. 24, 2023. Tickets for the Sweet Goodbye album release show are available now online.
