The organizers behind Barrie's biggest summer festival are boasting the “best lineup yet” as they prepare for the return of Kempenfest.

The OLG Main Stage will feature some of the country’s top bands, including Toronto-based rap-rock band Down With Webster, who will hit the stage at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 2.

Matthew Good and His Band will headline the main stage the following night, while country artist Tyler Joe Miller is slated for Sunday night.

Tickets are required for shows at the main and can be purchased beginning on April 30.

The annual four-day event, which is scheduled to take place Aug. 2 to 5 at the local waterfront, will mark the festival’s 52nd year, originally having been launched in 1971 as a juried “original art only” event.

Since that first, small long-weekend show, Kempenfest has grown to span across two kilometres of the city’s waterfront and feature more than 300 artisans and crafters, a midway, more than 15 different food vendors, an antiques show — and four days of live music on two different stages.
