Once upon a Christmas, a group of singers raised their voices to raise money for those in need.

The Friends of Parkview Singers held their annual Christmas Concert at Bethel Community Church in Barrie this past weekend, which saw a record-breaking $3,400 raised in support of Barrie and District Christmas Cheer

Started in 1999 by the late Marge Wagner and held nearly every year since, with the exception being during the pandemic, the popular holiday tradition provides the audience with a varied selection of Christmas songs, as well as the opportunity to provide a free-will offering.

This year’s concert surpassed the event’s previous fundraising record by more than $1,000.

The net proceeds collected through the event are donated to the local charity, which distributes food and toys to more than 1,800 families.
