NEWS RELEASE
BARRIE AND DISTRICT CHRISTMAS CHEER
**************************
With less than 10 days remaining before Barrie and District Christmas Cheer distributes food and toys to over 1,800 families, the organization finds itself facing a significant shortfall in its fundraising efforts.

Currently, Christmas Cheer has raised just over $152,000, falling $248,000 short of its ultimate goal of $400,000.

The demand for assistance has surged this year, with applications exceeding the numbers from the previous year. Barrie and District Christmas Cheer is committed to supporting its clients, ensuring that every family in need has food on the table and gifts under the tree for Christmas.

Steph Quenneville, president of Christmas Cheer, expressed: "In previous years, we would be right on track with the amount raised. However, with the rising cost of living, and a surge in applications, the need for community support is greater than ever in comparison to past campaigns.”

Monetary donations can be made directly through their website.

Along with monetary donations, Christmas Cheer is also asking the community for the following donated items:

  • New unwrapped toys for boys and girls ages 6-10 years
  • New unwrapped games - all ages
  • New unwrapped stuffed animals - all ages
