Some Springwater facilities, services set to reopen

Staff must ensure that proper policies, equipment and maintenance procedures are in place before they can reopen to the public

SPRINGWATER TWP. - Township of Springwater staff are preparing to reopen some municipal amenities and recommence offering services following the Province of Ontario’s recent announcement that municipalities in the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit region are able to move into Stage 2 of the Province’s reopening plan.

Resident and staff safety are of the utmost importance and although many amenities are permitted to reopen, staff must ensure that proper policies, equipment and maintenance procedures are in place before they can reopen to the public.

The following is an update on facilities, services and amenities in the township:

Staffing
 
 
·         All outdoor Public Works, Recreation, Parks and Facilities, Bylaw Enforcement and Building Services staff (inspectors only) resumed full-time duties as of June 1.
 
 
·         Administration staff continue to work remotely; however these staff are able to voluntarily return to the office as of June 22, while abiding by strict public health measures.

Elmvale Arena

·         Remains closed to the public until further notice.

Parks and Sports Fields
 
 
·         All parks and sports fields are open to the public for spontaneous, non-organized play.
 
 
·         Residents are reminded to practice safe physical distancing and abide by gathering limitations.
 
 
 
 
 
Doran Park Baseball Diamond
 
 
·         Available for rental beginning June 15, 2020.
 
 
·         Rentals are available for practice and training purposes only. Games/scrimmages and tournaments are not permitted at this time.

Tree Nursery Sports Park
 
 
·         Closed due to ongoing construction. Will reopen and be available for rentals beginning on July 2, 2020.

Playgrounds and Outdoor Fitness Equipment
 
 
·         Closed to the public in accordance with the Provincial Emergency Order.

·         Closed due to ongoing construction.
 
 
·         Notice will be published when the splash pad reopens.
 
 
Public Washroom Facilities
 
 
·         Closed to the public.
 
 
·         Notice will be issued when public washroom facilities reopen.
 
 
Council Meetings
 
 
·         Regularly scheduled Council meetings have resumed with some members of Council and staff participating electronically to ensure physical distancing. 
 
 
·         All Council meetings are streamed online at www.springwter.ca/live. A call-in option (audio only) is also available; call-in details are published in the agenda for each meeting.
 
 
Public Planning Meetings
 
 
·         Resuming July 27, 2020.
 
 
·         A policy has been drafted for stakeholder participation. Details will be made available at www.springwater.ca.
 
 
Committee Meetings
 
 
·         Cancelled until further notice.
