Today the province launched a toll-free line at 1-888-444-3659 to provide support for Ontario businesses who have questions regarding the recent emergency order to close at-risk workplaces following recommendations from Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health.

“We are in an unprecedented situation at this time, causing much uncertainty in many areas of daily life. This naturally leads to concerns and questions raised by businesses, families and individuals in our communities” said Doug Downey, MPP Barrie-Springwater-Oro-Medonte. “This toll-free line, 1-888 Stop the Spread, is a great resource to help answer those questions from businesses or employees who feel they fall into the grey area of whether or not they are an essential service.”

On Monday, the province issued an emergency order to close at-risk workplaces and encourage non-essential businesses to operate remotely. This emergency order was accompanied by a reminder from the government on the safe practices of social distancing and regular handwashing.

Businesses who have questions regarding the closures of at-risk workplaces or how emergency measures impact their business or employment can call the Stop the Spread Business Information Line at 1-888-444-3659.

Help is available from Monday - Sunday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
