City closes marinas, boat launch until further notice

The Barrie Marina, the Bayfield Basin Transient Marina and the Tiffin Boat Launch will be closed to the public until further notice as required by the Province of Ontario’s emergency order. Access to the Marina will be maintained for Emergency Services. Under the emergency order marinas can only be open to enable individuals to access their primary place of residence.  

The public are reminded to follow the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit’s recommendations to avoid crowds and maintain a distance of 2 metres (6 feet) from those around you.  

If residents wish to report the use of public amenities that are closed or gatherings of more than five people, they are asked to call 705-739-4241 or email [email protected]. Individuals not adhering to physical distancing regulations can be fined a minimum of $500 and maximum of up to $100,000 for each offence.  

The city will continually update its website at barrie.ca/Services as the situation changes.
