As part of the City’s response to coronavirus (COVID-19), Barrie will be reducing enforcement of parking and the noise by-law, effective immediately until further notice.
Overnight parking restrictions will no longer be enforced to encourage and support residents to stay at home to prevent further spread of COVID-19. If there is a winter event, the City will ask all residents to remove vehicles from the road to allow snow maintenance vehicles to properly clear the roads. The City will communicate a winter event on barrie.ca/snow, the City’s Facebook, and Twitter channels, and share with local media.
Parking enforcement staff will be redeployed to safety and complaint matters. Enforcement staff will continue to enforce parking too close to or blocking intersections, driveways, fire hydrants, accessibility spaces, sidewalks as well as facing the wrong direction on the roadway. These parking restrictions are in place to ensure emergency vehicles access, public safety and appropriate traffic management.
In addition to parking, provisions in the noise by-law related to deliveries will not be enforced. This will allow grocery and other stores to receive deliveries of essential services and/or perishables at any time.
