A Barrie boy (under 10) and a Barrie man in his 30s are among the 12 new cases of COVID-19 reported by the region's health unit today.
The boy's case is attributed to close contact, and the man's case is listed as community-acquired.
Including the two new cases from today's update, there have been 147 cases of COVID-19 confirmed in Barrie residents, with 108 reported recoveries and 14 deaths. One person is in hospital with the coronavirus.
Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit is also reporting four new cases in Innisfil including a man in his 50s (under investigation), a man in his 40s (community-acquired), a woman in her 40s (community-acquired), and a woman in her 50s (close contact).
Four more cases have also been confirmed in Bradford residents including a man in his 20s (close contact), a woman in her 30s (under investigation), a man in his 40s (community-acquired), and a man in his 20s (under investigation).
The final two cases reported by the health unit today include a man in his 60s from New Tecumseth (close contact), and a woman in her 20s whose case is listed as undetermined. Typically, uses “undetermined” for the source of transmission when the person who is positive works at a long-term care facility in outbreak.
As of May 25, the health unit has confirmed 454 cases of COVID-19 in Simcoe Muskoka. The health unit reports 340 of those people have now recovered (75 per cent). There are no longer any active cases in the Muskoka part of the region.
Thirty-six people in the Simcoe-Muskoka region have died with COVID-19, including 23 long-term care residents living at Owen Hill Care Community and Bradford Valley Care Community.
There are now eight Simcoe County residents hospitalized with COVID-19.

Barrie (147 cases, 108 recoveries, 14 deaths, 1 in hospital), Bradford West Gwillimbury (98 cases, 74 recoveries, 12 deaths, 2 in hospital), New Tecumseth (46 cases, 30 recoveries, 2 in hospital, one death), Orillia (17 cases, 13 recoveries, 2 deaths, one in hospital), Collingwood (15 cases, 11 recoveries), Wasaga Beach (13 cases, 10 recoveries, one death), Clearview (7 cases, 6 recoveries, one death), Innisfil (34 cases, 27 recoveries, one in hospital), Springwater (8 cases, 7 recoveries, 1 death), Midland (6 cases, all recovered), Oro-Medonte (5 cases, 2 recoveries, 2 deaths, one in hospital), Adjala-Tosorontio (7 cases, all recovered), Essa (11 cases, 7 recoveries, 1 death), Ramara (7 cases, 4 recoveries), Tiny (3 cases, 2 recoveries), Tay (5 cases, 3 recoveries, 1 in hospital), Penetanguishene (3 cases, 2 recoveries), and Severn (3 cases, all recovered) for a total of 435 cases in Simcoe County, including 322 recoveries, eight hospitalizations, and 35 deaths.
There are also 19 confirmed positive cases in Muskoka, and 18 have recovered, one person from Muskoka Lakes has died.
The case rate (including lab-confirmed cases only) for the Simcoe-Muskoka region is 75.1 cases per 100,000 population. The provincial average is 174.3 cases per 100,000 population.
