35 COVID-19 cases confirmed in Simcoe Muskoka, including 7 in Barrie

A new case reported today in Barrie involves a male in his 20s; The health unit has not specified his status nor how he got the virus

This morning, the local health unit announced today there are 35 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the region.  

Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has confirmed cases in Collingwood (1), Barrie (7), Orillia (4), Springwater (1), Clearview (2), New Tecumseth (3), Adjala-Tosorontio (1), Bradford West Gwillimbury (6), Essa (1), Midland (2), Oro-Medonte (1) and Huntsville (1). The remaining cases have not yet been posted with information.

In Collingwood, the one confirmed case was discovered in a male in his 50s, who is self-isolating during recovery.

In Barrie, there have been two men in their 70s die from the virus, there are two men in their 40s hospitalized, and there are two people self-isolating during recovery, including a man in his 40s, and a female in her 40s. A new case reported today involves a male in his 20s. The health unit has not specified his status nor how he got the virus.

In Orillia, a woman in her 70s has died from the virus, and three men in their 60s are self-isolating.

In Bradford West Gwillimbury a woman in her 50s is self-isolating, a man in his 20s is self-isolating, a woman in her 30s is hospitalized, a man in his 40s is self-isolating, a woman in her 50s is hospitalized, and another woman in her 50s is self-isolating.

Midland’s first confirmed cases were reported today and include a man in his 60s who is self-isolating, and a woman in her 70s self-isolating.

In Oro-Medonte, there is also a man in his 50s self-isolating.

The health unit has reported five cases of the virus in people aged 18-34, 19 cases in people aged 35-64, and six in people aged 65 years or older. There are 17 cases connected to travel, three to close contact, and eight community acquired.
