Young girl sends apology letters to police for 911 call

Girl sends police a handwritten note after calling 911 when she shouldn't have

South Simcoe police want to remind that calling 911 is for emergencies only after a nine-year-old Bradford girl called in to report an argument she was having with her mother.

The 911 operator who spoke to the girl explained the proper use for the number.

The girl was very apologetic and sent the 911 Communications team an apology letter and picture letting them know she was '1000 times sorry' for the incident.

"I am so sorry for calling 911 when I didn't need help. I will not do it ever again. I hope you will forgive me."

The letters and photos were shared on social media to serve as a reminder to only call 911 for emergencies when immediate action is required. Every year the 911 Communicators answer an increasing amount of unintentional and non-emergency calls to 911.

This takes away time and resources from someone who really needs help. If you do call 911 accidentally, stay on the line so police can properly confirm no help is needed.
