Two vehicles taken, two arrested in Essa Township break in

(ESSA TOWNSHIP)  On Monday, May 25, 2020, at approximately 8:57 a.m., the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a break and enter in progress at a residence in the area of 9th Line and County Road 90, in Essa Township. Information received was that a homeowner was awakened during the break and enter and that a motor vehicle was stole from the residence.

A short time later, Officers located the suspects in the area of Highway 27, south of County Road 90. A female was taken into police custody at this time, and a male suspect fled on foot, eventually stealing another motor vehicle and travelling into Barrie.

Officers from the Nottawasaga OPP and Barrie Police Service took the male into police custody in the area of Ferndale Drive and Edgehill Drive, in Barrie.

There is no threat to public safety at this time. The investigation on-going and more information will be released as it becomes available.
