Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Child Sexual Exploitation Unit, Digital Forensic Unit and Southern Georgian Bay OPP Detachment have arrested and charged a Tiny Township man following a four-month investigation into possession of child sexual abuse material.

On July 30, 2019 police executed a search warrant at a residence in Tiny Township. The investigation has resulted in the arrest of Mr. Richard Degenaar, 47 years old, who was charged with two counts of possession of child pornography.

Multiple electronic devices were seized for further examination.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie on July 31, 2019.

The Ontario Provincial Police will continue to aggressively identify and pursue individuals who use technology to exploit children.
