SPRINGWATER TOWNSHIP - On March 19, 2020, members from the Huronia West Detachment's Traffic Unit of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) laid 19 traffic-related charges, which included three separate incidents of stunt driving.

OPP members conducted proactive traffic enforcement on both major and less-travelled roadways in Springwater Township.

As a result of the enforcement efforts, three drivers were stopped and charged with stunt driving. The speeds of the vehicles were between 51-54 km/h over the posted speed limit. All three drivers had their driver's licence suspended and vehicle impounded for seven days.

The Huronia West OPP is committed to public safety, delivering proactive and innovative policing in partnership with our communities. Going above the speed limit increases your risk of a collision.

Braking times and stopping distances are greatly reduced, thereby making it more difficult to stop when you need to. Adding in environmental factors such as weather, road conditions, other drivers or other unanticipated hazards can be a recipe for disaster.

Please do your part to keep the roads safe by obeying the posted speed limits.
