Three arrested in attempted murder of youth in Angus

ESSA TWP. - Members from the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested three male parties in relation to an attempt murder of a youth. 

On July 23, 2019, the Nottawasaga OPP responded to a dispatched call for service in Angus involving a firearm being discharged. A Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) was observed departing the scene at a high rate of speed and the licence plate was provided during the call. 

The victim was treated at scene by paramedics and subsequently taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 

The SUV was located near Alliston. OPP officers attempted to stop the vehicle with negative results. The vehicles driver fled from police initiating a pursuit through several townships. Officers lost visual of the suspect vehicle and the pursuit was terminated. 

During the investigation, police identified the three males involved and all have been arrested and charged.

Michael Viani, 20, Adam Deleo, 21, and Nicholas Singh, 18, all from Caledon have been charged with numerous criminal offences relating to this incident including: 

  • Attempt to Commit Murder using a Restricted Firearm
  • Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
  • Robbery Using a Firearm
  • Use of Firearm While Committing an Offence

The accused will appear in a Bradford court to answer to their respective charges.
