Suspicious vehicle leads to numerous firearms charges

MIDLAND - Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Southern Georgian Bay detachment while on patrol in the town of Midland during the early hours of May 29, 2019 noticed a suspicious vehicle.  

Officers entered into an investigation and subsequently arrested three males. An additional male fled the area on foot. OPP K-9, Emergency Response team (ERT) and helicopter assisted with the search. The male was located and arrested in the town of Penetanguishene later the same morning.  

As a result of the investigation, all four males were charged with multiple firearms related offences and trespass by night. One firearm was seized by police in this investigation.   

  • Accused #1: Brian Orto, 19-year-old from North York 
  • Accused #2: Nicholas Adejumo-Omijeh, 18-year-old from North York
  • Accused #3: Keneel Grant, 18-year-old from North York
  • Accused #4: The name of a 15-year-old male from Brampton is withheld under the Youth Criminal Justice Act 

Charges:

  • Possession of weapon
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of firearm, knowing it's possession is unauthorized
  • Unauthorized possession of firearm in a motor vehicle
  • Possession of firearm with ammunition
  • Contravention of storage regulations
  • Trespass by night
  • Breach of recognizance x2 (Nicholas Adejumo-Omijeh only)

All four males are scheduled to attend bail court on May 30, 2019 at the Provincial Court of Justice in Barrie.
