Six charged in historic crystal-meth bust in Barrie, Innisfil

South Simcoe police say they seized more than 1.2 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and over nine ounces of cocaine, as well as fentanyl and LSD

Six people have been arrested and charged in what South Simcoe police are calling one of their "largest" seizures of crystal methamphetamine.

In the spring of 2022, the South South police street crime unit began an investigation into drug-trafficking activity in Barrie and Innisfil.

On Sept. 14, 2022, police say they made six arrests and executed a search warrant at an Innisfil home and a motor vehicle.

As a result of the search warrants, police say they seized a large quantity of drugs, including more than 1.2 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and over nine ounces of cocaine. Additional drugs were also located and confiscated, including fentanyl and LSD.

Police say they also seized an undisclosed amount of cash, a conducted energy weapon and drug paraphernalia.

Six suspects were arrested without incident.

As a result of the investigation, police charged Jamie Martin, 53; Joshua Martin, 38, both of Innisfil; and Eric Blais, 35, of Barrie. The charges include multiple trafficking and drug possession charges and unauthorized possession of a weapon. The accused were held for bail hearings.

Charged with drug possession and released from custody were Anthony Burke, 35, of London,Ont.; Sara Muir, 42, of Innisfil; and Susana Sobey, 50, of Barrie.
