South-end crash leaves one man dead

Police say the driver was ejected from the vehicle after it left the road and rolled 'a number of times'

Barrie police received a call at 8:40 p.m. Saturday of a single-vehicle collision involving a 31-year-old man, not from Barrie.

The incident happened on Essa Road, just south of McKay Road. The area was closed for several hours.

Barrie police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon said the “vehicle left the road, rolled a number of times with the driver being ejected and pronounced deceased at the scene.”

The investigation by the Barrie police traffic unit remains ongoing.
