Search warrant leads to seizure of cocaine, cash, and assault rifle

On Thursday, Oct. 5, officers from the Criminal Investigations Bureau and Emergency Response Unit with the assistance of Simcoe County Tactical Paramedics executed search warrants at two separate residences in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury.

The search warrants were the result of a month long investigation into drug trafficking in Bradford.

The warrants resulted in the seizure of a substantial amount of cocaine with a street value of over $25,000. A large amount of cash and a 9 mm tactical assault rifle were also recovered.

Police have arrested two people as a result of this investigation. A 52-year-old Bradford man and a 51-year-old Bradford woman have been jointly charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession for the purpose of trafficking and trafficking in a controlled substance.

The two accused also face several firearms related charges including careless storage of ammunition and possession of a prohibited firearm.

The two appeared in bail court today. The 52-year-old man has been remanded in custody until Oct. 11. At the time of this release, the 51-year-old woman is still waiting to be called.
