INNISFIL — Two people face impaired driving charges following a pair of RIDE checks in Innisfil Friday night.
A 37-year-old Orangeville woman was charged with impaired driving and over 80 after South Simcoe police stopped a vehicle at a RIDE program at 25th Sideroad and Big Bay Point Road and detected an odour of alcohol at 9:30 p.m.
After a 'fail' was registered on a roadside screening device, the driver was transported to North Division where breath tests results were well over the legal limit.
A 37-year-old Orangeville woman was charged with impaired driving and over 80. She received the mandatory 90-day licence suspension and seven-day impoundment of her vehicle. She was released with a future court date.
About a half-hour later, South Simcoe police were also conducting a RIDE check at the 13th Line and 25th Sideroad.
At approximately 10 p.m., police stopped a vehicle and detected an odour of alcohol when speaking to the driver.
After a 'fail' was registered on a roadside screening device test, the driver was transported to North Division where breath tests resulted in readings of almost twice the legal limit of alcohol.
A 36-year-old Innisfil man was charged with impaired driving, over 80, and operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days. He was released with a future court date.
During Festive RIDE checks over the weekend, South Simcoe police say officers also issued several cannabis-related suspensions and tickets.
