BRADFORD - Shortly after 3 a.m. on Monday, May 7, South Simcoe Police Service officers attended a Bradford residence at the request of a male who advised his wife was experiencing a mental health crisis. Officers were advised that the 50-year-old female with a history of mental health issues had armed herself with a weapon and was threatening anyone who tried to help her.
Officers spoke to the woman and tried to convince her to seek medical help. The female grabbed a small stool and began swinging it at the officers. The stool was taken from the woman who immediately grabbed a large two pronged BBQ skewer. An officer on scene successfully deployed a conducted energy weapon (taser). The woman was taken into custody by officers without injury and was examined by paramedics before being transported to hospital for evaluation.
