Police seize more than 6 lbs of cannabis during Innisfil traffic stop

South Simcoe Police Service officers seized cannabis and cannabis edibles after stopping a vehicle for stunt driving and speeding in Innisfil.

On Friday, Aug. 6, 2021 at approximately 7:10 p.m., police observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on 25th Sideroad. A speed measurement was obtained of 95 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone. A traffic stop was conducted. The driver was arrested and police seized just over six pounds of cannabis and cannabis edibles.

As a result of the investigation, a 28-year-old Innisfil man was charged with speeding, stunt driving (driving in excess of 40 km/h over posted limit), possession for the purpose of distributing, and possession of over 30 grams of dried cannabis (or equivalent) in a public place.

His licence was suspended for 14 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days. He was released at the scene with a future court date.
