Police saturate Innisfil area as search for missing man becomes more urgent

Officers in cars, on foot and on bicycle patrol are searching the area. Residents are asked to check backyards, sheds, garages as well as wooded areas behind their properties

INNISFIL - South Simcoe Police are continuing to work with our partners from Barrie Police Service, York Regional Police, OPP, Go Transit Safety and Security and Georgian Bay Volunteer Search and Rescue to locate a missing person in the Town of Innisfil.

Kenneth Armstrong, 75 years, from the Town of Innisfil has been missing since 4:30 p.m. yesterday. Police and family members are concerned for his well-being. 

An extensive search is being conducted in the Alcona area at this time. Officers in cars, on foot and on bicycle patrol have been saturating the Alcona area this afternoon. Marine Units from South Simcoe Police and York Regional Police are searching Lake Simcoe. A specialized vehicle from Go Transit was utilized to search the train tracks from Innisfil to Barrie. A helicopter from the Ontario Provincial Police and an unmanned aerial vehicle from Barrie Police have been searching from the air.

Armstrong has been missing for almost 24 hours and is in need of medication. Police are requesting Alcona area residents to check their backyards, sheds are garages for Kenneth who may be in medical distress.
