Police probing thefts from vehicles in Thornton, Loretto, Alliston areas

Nottawasaga OPP has received 'numerous' calls about incidents this month

Members of the Nottawasaga detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are seeking assistance from the public with ongoing thefts from vehicles in the New Tecumseth, Essa Township and Adjala-Tosorontio areas.

During the month of April, police have received numerous calls for service related to thefts from motor vehicles.

The incidents most recently reported have taken place on residential properties in the Alliston, Loretto and Thornton areas.

Thefts from vehicles are typically crimes of opportunity. The majority of thefts from vehicle calls do not have signs of forced entry or damage. Unlocked vehicles are the targets.

Police are reminding the public to lock doors, do not leave keys in vehicles and do not leave valuables in plain sight.

If you have been a victim or have seen something suspicious, please notify the police.

Video surveillance is a great tool that can assist police with solving crimes. If you happen to have footage, police are encouraging you to reach out.
