Original information

One person was killed today in an early-morning crash in Oro-Medonte Township.

Police cannot yet provide details about the gender or age of the victim, but said the person was killed when two cars collided on Line 9 between Ridge Road and Lakeshore Road East.

“It was a two-vehicle collision that occurred at around 6 a.m. this morning,” said OPP Sgt. Peter Leon. “One person was pronounced deceased at the scene.”

Leon said Air Ornge was called, but he could not confirm if the helicopter attended the scene or took someone to the hospital.

He said the OPP’s Technical Collision Investigators are assisting Orillia OPP with the investigation. As a result, the road remains closed; it’s expected to be closed for several hours.

“Regrettably, at this time, we don’t have any further details,” said Leon.
