Pedestrian suffers serious injuries after being hit in city's south end

Collision happened around 6:30 a.m. at the intersection of Mapleton and Essa

A pedestrian struck by a vehicle earlier today in Barrie's south end was taken to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The collision, which involved a man believed to be in his 50s, happened at 6:39 a.m., at Mapleton Avenue and Essa Road.

Barrie police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon told BarrieToday that Friday morning's incident is still under investigation, but police hope to have more information soon.
