Pedestrian struck, injured in Barrie's south end: police

City police say one person suffered non-life-threatening injuries Wednesday evening at the intersection of Mapleview and Barrieview drives

A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle Wednesday evening at the intersection of Mapleview and Barrieview drives in south-end Barrie.

The collision occurred at 6:20 p.m. on Jan. 31.

"One person was struck and taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries," Barrie police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon told BarrieToday.

Due to partial lanes closures on Mapleview Drive, traffic was backed up in the vicinity of the crash, which affected access to nearby plazas.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.

More information is expected to be released in the morning.
