Pedestrian dead after being hit by train

INNISFIL - On Friday, Oct. 6, 2017, at 7:16 a.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers, along with Innisfil Fire and Rescue and Simcoe County Paramedics and investigators from Metrolinx were dispatched to the GO Transit line, 800 metres south of Innisfil Beach Road for a pedestrian stuck by a train.

A 20-year-old Innisfil man was pronounced dead at the scene. A coroner's investigation has revealed that the southbound train stuck and killed the man while he was on the railway tracks.

The incident is not considered suspicious and no charges will be laid. The train and passengers were delayed until just before 11:00 a.m. The name of the victim will not be released.
