A Stroud resident has been charged after noisily getting the attention of Barrie police officers Wednesday night.

Shortly before 10:30 p.m., two Barrie police officers were finishing a call for service in the Park Place area when “they heard something that immediately redirected their attention to the main parking lot area,” police stated in a news release.

“A motor vehicle engine that was revving loudly was immediately followed by the sound of heavy acceleration and tires spinning on the asphalt parking surface. This was followed by a cloud of white smoke and the odour of burnt rubber.”

Officers located the male driver and charged the 18-year-old with stunt driving. The vehicle was to be impounded for 14 days and the driver’s licence suspended for 30.
