NEWS RELEASE

ONTARIO PROVINCIAL POLICE

*************************
Earlier this week, the Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated two sudden deaths in less than 20 hours within the City of Orillia.

In both cases, post mortem examinations along with toxicology testing has taken place in order to determine the exact cause of death, however it will take a period of time until the results are received.

In the meantime, the Orillia OPP, along with the Detachment Crime Unit will continue their investigation into the deaths of the 19-year-old and 31-year-old males. From the investigation that has taken place, the OPP believe strongly that both of the deaths are drug related.

People who use, or plan to experiment with illegal or what they believe are prescription drugs must recognize that the next time or your first time could be your last time. Drug use of any type is not only dangerous, but could have a deadly outcome; you need to ask yourself the question, "Do I really know what I am about to use?"

If anyone has information regarding any of these deaths or any overdoses that may have taken place in the Orillia area, they are encouraged to contact the Orillia OPP at 705-326-3536 or 1-888-310-1122.

If you have information about suspected unlawful activity, please contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or visit Crime Stoppers here or call 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
