Ontario Provincial Police investigate at the scene of a fatal collision at Simcoe Road 93 and Highway 12 in the Midland area, Wednesday night.

One person was killed following a crash involving a car and a motorcycle Wednesday night in Midland.

At around 8:45 p.m., Aug. 16, Southern Georgian Bay OPP officers and Midland firefighters responded to a report from Simcoe County paramedics about a serious collision at the intersection of Simcoe Road 93 and Highway 12.

"Officers arrived at the scene where a motorcycle and a car had been involved in the collision," police stated in a news release. "The operator of the motorcycle was badly injured and was attended to by paramedics. The operator was pronounced deceased after being transported to a local hospital."

No other information about the deceased has been released.

There were no other injuries in the crash, according to OPP.

At 11 p.m., provincial police said some roads remain closed in the area for the investigation, including Angela Schmidt Foster Road between Marshall Road and Simcoe Road 93, and Simcoe Road 93 between Highway 12 and Yonge Street.

The ramp remains open to allow northbound traffic on Simcoe Road 93 to exit eastbound onto Highway 12, but the intersection was expected to be closed for the remainder of the night, OPP said.

The investigation is ongoing.

Officers with the OPP Central Region Technical Traffic Investigation Unit (TTCI) ask that anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has dash-cam video to call 1-888-310-1122 or email opp.southern.georgian.bay@opp.ca.

This is the second fatal crash involving a motorcycle in northern Simcoe County this week. Logan Young, a 21-year-old Barrie man, died Tuesday afternoon following a collision involving a tractor-trailer at Highway 12 and Memorial Avenue in Orillia.

A motorcycle rider also suffered serious injuries on Wednesday afternoon in south-end Barrie at Mapleview Drive and Veterans Drive. That investigation is ongoing.

On Aug. 2, David Porter, a 56-year-old Barrie man, was also killed when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a vehicle at Innisfil and John streets in Barrie. Charges were laid in that crash after city police say the other driver turned into the path of the motorcycle.
