Man's body discovered in Orillia wooded area

Orillia OPP is investigating a death following the discovery of a 40-year-old man's body in a wooded area on West Street South.

Shortly after 8 p.m., Wednesday, Orillia OPP officers, Simcoe County paramedics and Orillia firefighters were dispatched to the wooded area for the "report of an unresponsive male," police stated in a media release.

The man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Orillia OPP crime unit are continuing its investigation with the assistance of the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario, noted the media release.

The cause of death is to be determined pending a post-mortem.

Investigators do not believe there is a threat to public safety, the media release stated.
