Man tries to make off with meds and meat

The Barrie Police Service is appealing to the public for assistance after a theft was reported in the City of Barrie.

On Sunday, Jan. 13, 2019, at approximately 3:30 p.m., police attended a grocery store located on Wellington Street West after a male selected some meat and non-prescription medication, concealed it in a backpack and then left the store without paying for the items. This took place at 2:45 p.m. When approached by a Loss Prevention Officer outside the store, the male resisted when asked to return to the store and ran across the parking lot. He did however leave behind the backpack containing the stolen items.

The suspect is described as: male white, approximately 35-40 years old, 5'10" -5'11," wearing blue jeans, long black winter jacket a green and white Saskatchewan Roughriders style ball cap. He also had goatee and short brown hair.
