Victim, 44, being treated for life-threatening injuries in Toronto hospital; 23-year-old Barrie man has been charged

On Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019, shortly after 3 a.m., officers from the Barrie Police Service responded to a report of a disturbance that had occurred on the front lawn of a residence located on Hemingway Crescent in the city of Barrie.

Upon arrival, police learned that two males had been fighting when a third male intervened and stabbed one of the males with a knife.

The 44-year-old victim was rushed to a local hospital where he was stabilized and later taken to a Toronto-area trauma centre where he is currently being treated for life-threatening injuries.

At the scene, a 23-year old Barrie resident was arrested and has since been charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon. He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Barrie on Nov. 4, 2019.

Barrie police remained on the scene until late Saturday night in order to carry out the investigation, which is now complete.
