Man involved in road rage incident succumbs to injuries

Police continue to appeal for witnesses to the incident

On Friday, Sept. 22 at approximately 7:20 a.m., South Simcoe Police were called to the intersection of Line # 9 and 5th Side Road in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury.

Two drivers, one operating a 2010 Grey Dodge Dakota pickup truck and the other operating a 2002 Red Mazda Protege 5 became involved in an interaction at the intersection of County Road # 27 and Line # 9.

The interaction continued when the driver of the Mazda turned around and began following the pickup eastbound on the 9th Line.

When the vehicles reached the intersection of the 9th Line and 5th Side Road, the Mazda driver exited his car and approached the pickup truck. The incident escalated when the driver of the Mazda jumped on the hood of the pickup and began damaging the vehicle.

During the event, he fell to the ground and struck his head. He was transported by Air Ambulance to a Toronto area Trauma Centre where he succumbed to his injuries earlier this morning. His name will not be released.

Detectives, forensic investigators and collision reconstructionists are continuing their investigation.
