Innisfil man, 19, accused of obstructing licence plate with paint

INNISFIL - A 19-year-old man was charged with driving while under suspension following a traffic stop in Innisfil.

On Friday, Jan. 24, 2020, around 10 a.m., a South Simcoe Police Service officer observed a vehicle travelling on Killarney Beach Road with the front licence plate obstructed with paint.

The officer conducted a traffic stop and checks revealed the driver was under a driving suspension.

A 19-year-old Innisfil man was charged and his vehicle seized for seven days.

Licence plates must be kept clean and visible. The Highway Traffic Act states that the number plate "shall be kept free from dirt and obstruction and shall be affixed so that the entire number plate is plainly visible at all times." The fine for an obstructed plate is $85.
