Impaired complaint leads to multiple charges

TINY TOWNSHIP - On Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017 at approximately 7:35 p.m. members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a complaint of an impaired driver.

Police located the involved vehicle a short time later stopped on Gardiner Side Road in Tiny Township, Ontario. While speaking with the lone male driver, the officer determined that he had been consuming alcohol. As the officer was conducting an arrest, the male party ran off but was immediately apprehended.

 As a result of the investigation, the male driver Eric George (age 23) of Tay Township has been charged with:

  • Care or Control While Impaired - Alcohol contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Care or Control over 80 mgs. Contrary to the Criminal code of Canada
  • Driving While Disqualified contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Escape Lawful Custody contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of a schedule II substance - Cannabis Marijuana - under 30 grams contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

Further, he received a 90 day automatic driver's licence suspension and his vehicle was towed and impounded.

The accused was held for a bail hearing in Barrie at later date.
