For the second time this year, there’s heavy police presence in Angus, southwest of Barrie, but no information what it’s about.

Nottawasaga OPP said midday Sunday there will be an increase in police presence in the Brentwood Road area, in Essa Township, due to an ongoing investigation.

OPP say Brentwood Road will be closed from Commerce Road to Sandy Lane, and that more information will be released when it becomes available.

“That’s all that is going to be released at this point, but we will be putting something out as an update when we have one available,” said Nottawasaga OPP Const. Jacquelyn Beaulieu.

On Jan. 16, OPP reported a heavy police presence in Angus due to an investigation and that there was no threat to public safety.

The nature of that call was not released.

The tactics and rescue unit (TRU) and critical incident commander were used by police, but with no result.

Police cleared the area by 7:30 p.m.

Several police vehicles were noticed in the area, with cruisers on Brentwood Road and in a nearby plaza.

A helicopter was reported to be circling overhead as well.
