Female suspect charged after male cohort leaves her behind

Theft under $5,000 - Shoplifting

INNISFIL - On Saturday, March 19, 2016 just before 6 p.m. South Simcoe Police were called to a Cookstown area shopping mall after a man and woman were observed leaving a clothing store without paying for items.  

The parties became separated with the male suspect taking off in a car leaving the female suspect behind.  

Prior to police arrival, the woman had fled into a bush area.  

A South Simcoe Police canine unit attended to assist and the woman was apprehended a short time later.  

A 26-year-old Toronto woman is charged with theft under $5,000, possession of stolen property under $5,000 and wearing a disguise.

She was released from custody with conditions and will appear in court at a later date in answer to the charges.
