ADJALA-TOSORONTIO TOWNSHIP - At approximately 9:45 pm, Monday, Jan. 1, 2018, officers of the Nottawasaga Detachment responded to a two-vehicle crash on County Road 15, between the 5th Sideroad and County Road 5, of Adjala-Tosorontio Township.
Investigation reveals that a northbound vehicle was struck on the right side by a southbound vehicle. The driver of the northbound vehicle, Jack Birkett, age 18, of New Tecumseth, received non-life threatening injuries.
Sadly, his passenger, 18-year-old Avery Andrew of Main Street, Adjala-Tosorontio, succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced at the scene.
The driver of the southbound vehicle, Marvin Doucet, age 23 of Adjala Tosorontio, was also attended to at the scene by Simcoe paramedics and there were no life-threatening injuries.
Officers were assisted by Simcoe County Paramedics, Adjala-Tosorontio Fire Services and the Central Region Technical Traffic Investigation team.
